서울 성동구 서울숲에 위치한 디뮤지엄에서는 2025년 여름, 《취향가옥 2: THE HOUSE OF TASTE》 전시가 열리고 있습니다.
‘가상의 컬렉터의 집’을 콘셉트로 기획된 이번 전시는, 관람객이 마치 누군가의 집에 초대된 듯한 분위기 속에서 예술 작품을 자연스럽게 감상할 수 있도록 구성된 공간형 전시입니다.

《취향가옥 1》과 동일한 구조를 유지하면서도 완전히 새로운 작품과 오브제로 채워진 이번 전시는, 같은 공간이 어떻게 전혀 다른 분위기를 만들어낼 수 있는지를 보여줍니다. 익숙한 공간에서 새로운 감각을 발견하는 흥미로운 체험이었습니다.

일상과 예술의 경계가 흐려지는 순간들

이번 전시에는 현대미술의 거장부터 아트 토이, 리미티드 스니커즈에 이르기까지 다양한 장르의 작품이 어우러져 있습니다. 특히 인상 깊었던 점은 세계적인 작가들의 작품을 거실, 침실, 서재 같은 생활 공간 안에서 자연스럽게 마주할 수 있다는 점이었습니다.

머물고 싶은 방, 상상 속의 거주

전시 공간 중 특히 마음이 머물렀던 곳은, 이우환 작가의 작품 세 점이 벽을 둘러싸듯 설치된 방이었습니다.
그 앞에 놓인 의자에 앉아 조용한 음악을 들으며, 작품들 사이에서 한참을 머물고 싶은 기분이 들었습니다. 실제로 오래 머물 수는 없지만, 상상만으로도 마음이 차분해지는 공간이었습니다.

《취향가옥 2》는 관람객마다 끌리는 방이 다르고, 머무는 시간도 다릅니다. 취향에 따라 감상의 방식이 달라지는 점이 이 전시의 또 다른 매력입니다.

전시를 보고 난 후 – 내 공간 속의 예술

전시를 관람하며 자연스럽게 떠올랐던 질문은
‘내가 좋아하는 작가의 작품을 내 공간에 어떻게 머물게 할 수 있을까’였습니다.

저 역시 집에 좋아하는 작가의 포스터나 굿즈를 걸어두고 있는데, 작품이 공간의 분위기와 어우러질 때 작은 위안과 기분 전환이 되는 걸 종종 느낍니다.
《취향가옥 2》는 관람객 스스로 자신의 공간에 어떤 에너지와 감성을 담고 싶은지를 떠올리게 만드는 전시였습니다.

그 점이야말로 이 전시가 줄 수 있는 가장 긍정적인 영향이 아닐까 생각해 봅니다.

Exhibition Review of The House of Taste 2 at D Museum

Located near Seoul Forest, D Museum is currently hosting The House of Taste 2: THE HOUSE OF TASTE, a unique exhibition running through the summer of 2025.
This exhibition invites visitors into an imagined collector’s home, offering an immersive experience where contemporary artworks are placed throughout everyday domestic spaces.

While the structure of the exhibition mirrors that of The House of Taste 1, the atmosphere is entirely refreshed through new works and rearranged objects. It’s a fascinating experience that proves how the same space can evoke entirely different impressions depending on what fills it.

Where Everyday Life Meets Art

This exhibition blends a wide range of genres — from works by leading figures in contemporary art to collectible sneakers and designer toys. What stood out most was how naturally world-renowned artworks were integrated into familiar spaces like a living room, bedroom, or study.

Highlights include:

• Apple Tree and Happy Indian by Nam June Paik

• Recurrence by Kim Tschang-Yeul

• Conjunction by Ha Chong-Hyun

• Imperfect Painting by Roy Lichtenstein

Being able to encounter these pieces not in a traditional museum setting but within spaces resembling everyday interiors created a strong sense of connection between art and life.
Also on display are limited-edition sneakers, KAWS figures, and works by artist Seungcheol Ok — objects that reflect a modern collector’s lifestyle and taste. The exhibition presents various points of intersection between personal taste and visual culture.

A Room You Want to Stay In

The most memorable room for me was one where three works by Lee Ufan were installed on three walls, surrounding a single chair.
I imagined sitting there for hours, listening to soft music and quietly absorbing the atmosphere between the works. Although lingering long wasn’t practically possible, even the brief time I spent in that space brought a sense of calm.

The House of Taste 2 offers spaces that invite different viewers to pause in different ways, depending on their own sensibilities. It’s a show where the experience changes with each person’s preferences — a core part of its charm.

After the Exhibition – Art That Belongs in Your Space

What stayed with me after the visit was this thought:
“How can I let the work of an artist I admire live in my own space?”

Personally, I’ve placed several posters and small goods by my favorite artists around my home. When art complements the tone and energy of a space, it can offer a subtle sense of comfort and renewal.
This exhibition reminded me that even without original works, we can still thoughtfully curate our surroundings — and that doing so has value.

Perhaps this is one of the most meaningful takeaways of The House of Taste 2 — helping each of us imagine what kind of feeling or energy we want to bring into the spaces we inhabit.
